Students grab visas for US career paths

THE number of Chinese studying in the US has reached a new high, the US Consulate General in Shanghai announced yesterday.And people from Shanghai have a better chance of getting a US visa than residents of any other part of China.Officials said the consulate issued student visas to 88 percent of applicants in the past year up to September 30.Outside Shanghai China's average rate for successful student visa applications is 71 percent.………….China is the second largest country of origin for students in the US after India.The total number of international students enrolled in US colleges and universities increased by three percent - a major rebound in international enrollments after 9/11.
